July Quotes From Our Truck Driving Schools

The summer just keeps on rolling by. This month we came across an article about an increase in truck tonnage. Since then a lot of positivity in the trucking industry has been generated. For trucking companies it means more freight is around the corner. With positivity in mind we thought we would post just a few quotes from recent Premier Truck Driving School graduates:

James B said:

”Instructors are very informative & helpful. -Thank you.

Juan H wrote:

' This was a very good class

Elaine G said:

England instructors are very good and patient with the students.

Brian E wrote:

“All instructors in driving school are outstanding, very patient w/students trying to break old driving habits.”

These are just a few of the quotes we find on our surveys. They say a lot about the talented staff we have doing or CDL training. Quotes like these show you why we have a reputation for having the best trainers in the business!

When you graduate from one of CR England’s Trucking Schools you get asked to fill out a survey about your experience up to that point. The surveys can be filled out with or without a name on them. They are of course, optional for the students to fill out. We use the surveys to gauge and  monitor our progress. We believe the surveys establish a picture of what is really going on at our truck driving schools.

The Family Business Of Truck Driving

CR England was mentioned In the June edition of Pilot Travel Centers CHALLENGE Magazine. The article ran a great story about family owned and operated truck driving businesses.

CR England was one of the featured companies in the article. The other company featured in the article was John Christner Trucking. The article mainly discussed the issues of Succession, Entitlement, and Expectations.

Another very interesting issue that was covered in the article was focused on this question. "Who really decides who is in charge?" The issue was summed up quite well with a quote from Dean England " In terms of business, we realize not everybody can be the boss and we understand our roles and perform them well."

The Christner family operates similarly with family members complimenting one and other and  sibling rivalry absent from the mix.

The topic of succession was briefly discussed. The article states that 70 percent of family owned businesses do not make it to a second generation of owners. With CR England now operating with 4th generation family members it certaily has over come the statistics.

The sense of entitlement is not taken lightly by Christner trucking or CR England. Both families  believe that there is a need to eliminate the idea that trucking jobs are just waiting for younger generations. At CR England they have decided on a policy where 4th and future generations will need to first work outside the family business for at least two years before they can work for the company.

Both families in the article made comments about the future expectations. The Christner family believes there will be no  expectation of succession. CR England manager Mitch England says He will encourage family to work with the company, but he will not force it.

This was a great featured article written by Jennifer Kirby. A full online version of the article can be found at: http://ptcchallenge.com/2009/06/a-tangible-legacy/

Not All Trucking Companies Closing

Truck Driving JobsYesterday, July 1 2009, Fox 21 online posted an article about Duluth based Monson Trucking company. The article says the 94 year old truck driving company will be closing its doors.

Author Beth Jett quoted Co-owner Mike Monson; according to  Mr. Monson, the company decision to close is related to the bankruptcy filings of two major clients, and the overall downturn of the economy. Monson says in total about 200 people will be out of work.

This is a tough story about yet another trucking company closure. For those drivers who have been informed of their companies misfortune, and are about to begin the search for a new employer we have some good news:

CR England, the nation's largest refrigerated carrier, is Hiring! CR England is looking for both experienced and non-experienced truck drivers. If you have been impacted by the Monson closure or any other company closure and are looking for trucking jobs please take a look at what CR England has to offer.

Many truck driving jobs are available at CR England Inc.
